Help -- My Tamagotchi is MAD at me!

We just got our Tamagotchi Connection a few hours ago and he is NOT happy and is POUTING and won't PLAY! What do we do?? He also has no training points. What are we doing wrong? We are very worried about him... Help!

Give it a Phraise. Then it will have one training point.

When I push the praise button, nothing happens -- i don't get any training points, and my Tamagotchi is still in a bad mood.
