The matchmaker times are:
10:30am
3:00pm
7:00pm
If you don't want to wait, after the age of 6 or 7, set the time to either 10:29am, 2:59pm, or 6:59pm.
But keep your tamagotchi close to you at all times. On the V4, the matchmaker stays for about 10 seconds then leaves, but you will see her again. On the other versions I've seen her stay as long as 5 minutes.
