How Do u make 2 tamagotchis mate?

I have a male mamechi tamagotchi named James and my sis has a female octopus lookibg tama named Kim.when i look on the friends list they are partners but they havent laid an egg no matter how much we connect. How do i make them lay an egg?

from wat i heard, its like a certain age or something, i am also new to this so i dont know much

The tamagotchis both need to be around 6 or 7 and they need to have 4 hearts on the friends list
