How do you enter codes?

I have tried SO MANY times in SO MANY different places but I just can't! How do you enter a code and where? <_<

Ok, here's what you have to do. You have to go into the shop under the games icon. On the screen with the little dude sitting there under the "Shop" sign, press A a bunch of times (like 8 or 9) until his like suprised or crying or whatever he does. Then press the A,B, and C buttons accordingly.
