Normally for a tama to grow an age, it takes one day [or 24 hours] so your tama at age 0 would take 7 days [or a week] to grow to the age of seven.

It might take longer if you pause your tamagotchi a lot because it affects the growth of the tamas.

yes. for it to be 7yr old you need to have it for 7 days, or a week, unpaused. the tama's birthday is everyday because it grows an age everyday <_<
