I can't seem to get the shop keeper suprised!

I am so confused! i just can not get the shop keeper suprised! I used up one entire piece of paper writing codes for my tama! Whenever i try to get the shop keeper suprised, it just dosent work... can someone please help me?

you just press a really fast a few times (really your supposed to press it 3 times) within two seconds! he should act suprised
