If you mean the built-in game on your V4 Tamagotchi (and not the dance game in the V4 TamaTown kindergarten), then it's just random, you don't have any control over your Tamagotchi.

If it is on the tamagotchi you just watch, you can't do anything. But if it is in TamaTown, you just have to memorize the pattern.
