It's clear blue with yellow buttons, on ebay. I'd post the link but I don't want anyone else to get it! ;)

Anyone got any ideas as to whch one it is?

I used to have a P1, I loved it, but my mum threw it out accidentally. I was very sad, so now I'm demanding I get a new one! I'm just hoping it doesn't go up in price too much, I haven't got much money!! *twitches* :D

I believe clear blue with yellow buttons is a P1.

In general, to determine which P1 vs P2:

The LCD background is different between P1 & P2. The P1 has a checkered background.

The P2 has a swirly background.

Here are pictures where you can clearly see the backgrounds.

P1: https://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/bin...1background.jpg

P2: https://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/bin...2background.jpg

The characters shown on the box artwork are different between P1 & P2. Look on the back, near the bottom. If you can see Mametchi, it's a P1. If you can see Mimitchi, it's a P2.

You can also check Mothra's site, Tamenagerie. She's got every P1 & P2 pattern displayed there.

P1 are shown on this page: https://www.tamenagerie.com/gen1.html

P2 are shown on this page: https://www.tamenagerie.com/gen2.html

Thankyou ;)

I've zoomed right in and I can't see what the screen has on it, the picture isn't good quality enough, so I'll just go with it being a P1.

Darnit, I've saying my Tamagotchi is a P1 but it has the swirley background, so I guess it's P2. Ah well. Are there any other differences between Tamagotchi P1 and Tamagotchi P2?

When you start (or reset) them, the eggs are different. Click here to see a P1 egg. Notice the egg is spotted. Compare that to the P2 egg, here which is a chequered pattern.

The P1 & P2 have different built-in games, and the characters you can raise on them are different. You can see descriptions of the games, and images of the characters in the instruction manuals. There are scans of the original instruction manuals in TamaTalk's Library Reference Section. Here's a link to the P1 manual. The P2 manual is here.
