Some items stay... others don't. For example, disposable items (shovels, etc) don't last. Once you use it, it's gone. Other items such as balls and toys stay, and I've heard that they carry on to the next generation.

it depends on which exact one you are using.Some you can play with FOREVER maybe until it dies and some can just go away like the pencil weight pills.And especially the FOOD.
