Obotchi character on v3

Ok so I'm new to v3. I had an egg I hatched it I got a girl I called it Emily she transformed from mizutamatchi to obotchi but I have always thought that obotchi was a boy character is it a boy or a girl.

On the V3 None of the characters are gender specific, with the exception of Babies, and oldies.
