Introducing...Tamagotchi 4U!

Hi, dear TamaTalkers! I'm back (finally!) for my Tamagotchi 4U update. I've got the next 4 nights off (a rare treat) so I'll slowly catch you up with all that's been going on. I figured I'd take more time and do a more lengthy update, considering this is my log's 500th post! What better way to celebrate than to post about the 4U? :) I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you, awesome readers, for sticking by me these last few years I've had this log going. Hope you continue to enjoy it!

This post will cover the events occurring on Saturday, October 4. I was on the go this day so I didnt have the chance to get down into the nitty gritty of it all. These are just my first thoughts.

Last time, I started off with the introduction of the newest members of my virtual pet family. As you have already seen, I have the blue (of course :D ) and white shells. Interesting thing about the 4U is that no matter the color shell you get, all of the backs are white. Different design choice there. I also like the fact that they're about the same build as the TMGC+C.

Feeling super excited and handling everything with care, I opened the packaging (with my husband looking on amusingly) for the Tamagotchis and the face plates. The Tamagotchis themselves are pretty, especially the blue, since the shell is metallic. The face plates are stunning and vibrant with color. For a thin piece of plastic that pops off very easily, it's surprisingly sturdy. I had to try them on for size immediately. I'm debating whether or not I should change the way I edit the dimensions for my pictures. Usually, I zoom right in to where you just see the screen (so the shell isn't usually seen), but I can't deny how nice the face plates look on camera and can't resist showing them off! I'll play around with it. I guess it all depends on the situation and whether or not I have enough time for the extra editing.

Now that the initial cosmetic thoughts are out of the way, let's get into some of the content! I caught the hatching sequence on camera for one of my 4Us (the one that hatched the female) just because I thought it would be fun and I haven't uploaded a video to my Youtube channel in a while (sorry about the background noise...I was watching a movie at the same time). On a side note, I want to thank my subscribers. I didn't think I'd have any, considering I only occasionally upload videos, and very amateur ones at that, so much appreciation to you. :)

Of course, when I was starting out, I was just doing everything for the pure discovery and fun of it all. I hadnt read up on the matters of training, nor was I familiar with all the menu options, so I didnt know to discipline. Im still learning, so bear with me! I do like it that the 4U has the option to train your character to use the potty, brush its teeth, clean up, etc.

Im loving the cute animations on the 4U!

So on the way to where I was going, I played around with the NFC connection on my Galaxy S5. Didnt quite get the hang of it then but I managed to get my 4U to register my phone, as evidenced by the following animation. Sorry about the shaky photos from here on out. Like I said, I was on the go. :) Another difference on the 4U is that the text in the speech bubbles now scrolls like a marquee. Wish I could read whats being said!

20141004_155417.jpg

Managed to catch one training opportunity, though I didnt know how to correctly handle it at the time. I thought I simply had to send him to the bathroom before the poo dropped but I later learned that he also needed to be praised.

This is about all I had time for on October 4. Ill be back with more of my discoveries soon. Thanks for reading!

I really don't mean to neglect my log. :p I just get so darn busy all the time! This last shift was pretty gnarly, and I had mandatory hospital-wide safety training for like an hour this morning after working all night, so I was pretty knackered after getting home. I have the next 3 evenings off though, so prepare for the onslaught of updates (hopefully)!

Where did I leave off? Oh yes, I was derping around with my 4U because I was experimenting and that was before I had read up on translation guides, tips, tricks, and such for the 4U. As a result, my characters we not trained properly.

For example, I attempted potty-training but didn't praise nor catch them all so no wonder the skill wasn't earned! The animations are adorable nonetheless.

In the following days, I learned several things:

I thought that disciplining after your character misbehaves during mealtime was a skill but it looks like it's just a fun feature more than anything.

The appearance of the house and garden changes the more you connect via NFC. Here's a picture of how the house and garden looked starting out (again, I love the animations):

2014-10-05072232.jpg

I obtained my first adult characters: Spaceytchi and Neenetchi. I have no idea where they stand on the growth chart but I take it they're bad-care characters because I don't feel like I did a particularly good job at taking care of them.

2014-10-07151756.jpg
2014-10-07151748.jpg

I also successfully transferred over some items and characters from the app.

2014-10-07161310.jpg
2014-10-07161322.jpg

The games are fun! The first game is a bowling game and you try to stop the arrow on the meter. The higher it is, the greater the power of the throw, and the more pins you knock down. The second game involves dodging asteroids.

Didn't know it at the time, but it appears I missed the training opportunities to get my characters to clean up after themselves too because this appeared on the screen and I had to prompt him to clean (when they're trained, they do it themselves).

Eventually, I also learned that when you go outside during the day, you get the opportunity to demonstrate your character-specific skill but you have to had gone to school and have the right items in order to succeed, otherwise you just earn the minimum 50 Gotchi Points.

It was Memetchi's birthday on October 10. There are a couple of animations (at least that I took note of), one at 8:30 am and again at 1:30 pm. I wish they showed the character whose birthday is being celebrated because I was confused for a second before the birthday card was shown, and it would be nice to know whose birthday it is without having to look it up.

2014-10-10083144.jpg

Before I move along with more 4U updates, can't forget about my +C running in the background! :) I had a boy at this time, and he had evolved into Young Mametchi.

In other news, I received the prototype V5.5 I won! I love how pearly white the shell is and how, when it catches the light, it's also an iridescent purple all around. Very interesting!

So October 11th was a pretty picture-heavy day, as I finally had time to read up more on the characters' happy items and try for them. I was on the go again so forgive me if some of the pictures appear a bit blurry.

Spaceytchi's happy items - king's crown, curry rice, and ice cream:

According to the happy items project page over at Tama Zone, another one of his happy items is the modeling clay. When I tried it, however, he just made a model, but no happy sign! How strange! I wonder if anyone else out there who has had Spaceytchi can confirm with me.

I didn't realize that this happened at the time, but I also earned the final happy sign (being an adult for 72 hours, if I remember reading correctly) a while back. This completed the clover for Spaceytchi.

In addition to the tiara, Neenetchi also likes cream stew and ribbon one piece. (For a more comprehensive list that's being currently updated, I've been visiting this page.)

Some thoughts that I recorded on the fly as I did a little more research and finished up my first generation on my 4U:

  • Small detail, but I really like that I can see all 6 hunger bowls on the status screen. One of the things that always bothered me on previous color versions was that there were 2 "hidden" hunger bowls. I'd rather know right off the bat exactly how much I need to feed my Tamagotchi.
  • Snacks eaten at the restaurant now fill up hunger bowls too (rather than just filling up the happiness meter)
  • The clover pictured under the status icon doesn't change appearance and "complete itself" until all 4 happy items are collected. I was expecting a similar picture to the puzzle pieces interlocking to make a whole, but that's not the case on the 4U. On that same screen as the clover, what I'm assuming (because I can't read Japanese) is a list of happy items obtained to complete the clover also appears. Something new and different, I like that.
  • Clothing and accessories are located under the bathroom icon.
  • The baby-sitting feature (which I'll cover in a later post) is a complete dream for a full-time employee like me. :)
  • To use the NFC feature 4U to 4U, you only need to activate the connection icon on one of the Tamagotchis. Many thanks to Camii and the helpful connection topic that was posted!
  • The exception the rule happens when you marry two 4U though. According to the video in that same connection topic, looks like you have to select MARRY on both to get them to marry. I still don't know what all the options in the menu after selecting MARRY means but hopefully I'll figure it out soon.
Last, but not least, here's what happened on my +C on the 11th: Young Mametchi had evolved into Kuromametchi and when the time came, he went to the matchmaker where he and Furawatchi were married. They had a baby boy, who evolved into Kuribotchi.

Tamagotchi 4U

I got impatient trying to figure out how to marry my two 4U, so I took them each to the dating place instead. :D I prefer my Tamagotchis to evolve earlier in the day, hence my decision.

Over on my white 4U, Spaceytchi married Meloditchi.

When you obtain all the happy items for a character and you go to the date place/get married, a cute animation plays where your Tamagotchi character's life plays like a movie before your eyes. It's like a reflection on all that happened. Pretty neat little feature!

I recorded a video of my girl's marriage sequence on my blue 4U. By the way, I am SO sorry about my dorky giggle fits in the video. My husband was in my periphery and he was making me laugh. :p

A girl hatched on both my blue and white 4U. Darn! Going to have to try out the connection marriage some other time.

The rest of the day, I tried to keep a close eye out to try and potty-train my gals. It worked! It took 3 tries each this time around. I didn't miss any in between.

Thinking about it...

TMGC+C

Kuribotchi evolved into Kikitchi. Such an adorable character!

That's all for now, dear readers! More updates to come!

October 13-15, 2014

This will be a shorter update during the aforementioned time period because I was at work.

Tamagotchi 4U

It turns out I missed the calls for clean up because I woke up one morning to a huge mess on the screen of both 4U, with no thought bubbles. Nothing else to do but clean it up. I didn't know it then but I also missed the calls for teeth-brushing/prepping for bed. Better luck next time!

2014-10-14074621.jpg

As I mentioned in a previous entry, the baby-sitting feature on the 4U is GENIUS.

2014-10-14074716.jpg

It doesn't line up perfectly with my schedule (I'm a weirdo who works the night shift, what do you expect? :p ) because it's only activated during the day time and "turns off" at night, and so when I come home from work some time after 7 am (i.e., after the Tamagotchis wake up), and after eating, showering, and getting settled down myself without touching my Tamagotchis, the characters go some time without care but I'm not complaining! It's pretty darn close. That baby-sitter takes care of most of the day for me. I still haven't quite figured out yet if activating the baby-sitting function affects evolution time but perhaps when I have more time, I'll sit down one day and monitor things more closely.

TMGC+C

Kikitchi evolved into Mametchi. I wanted to buy Kikitchi's happy item and use it before he evolved (it's a Hero Set that transforms him into the Monkey King...very cute) but alas, the weather did not permit me to visit Tama Town. Maybe next time!

2014-10-15131430.jpg

My next update will be significantly longer - it'll probably be a 2- or 3-part entry. Until next time, TamaTalk!

Hello, dear readers! It's been a while since I last logged. A lot has happened and so I'll try and catch up as best as I can (I hope I can remember it all)!

I last left off before logging the events of October 16-17, my aforementioned probable 2- or 3-parter. :D

Tamagotchi 4U
Both my gals evolved into Neenetchi (again…well, in the case of my blue one :p ) and if I recall, I married them both off as soon as they evolved into adults, one to Kuchipatchi and the other to Kuromametchi.

2014-10-16084931.jpg

Of course, I realized after the fact that I had not achieved all happy items for Neenetchi on my white 4U before, but oh well. Chances are, I’ll be getting her again so if it does happen on my white one, I’ll take a little extra time to earn her happy symbols and have her character stored under the book icon.

Boys were hatched on both my blue and white 4U. Wonder if the stars will align again so that I may have a boy on one and a girl on the other.

October 16-17, 2014 (continued)

During this rebellious stage, I trained both boys to go to the bathroom as best as I could. I kept track this time and they each called about every 2 hours or so. I managed to successfully toilet-train my blue 4U within my 2 days off and it took 6 unmissed calls. That certainly took longer than last time! I missed one call on my white 4U but as with my blue 4U on the second day and SEVEN tries, he became potty-trained. Phew!

I also managed to train them only once each for both the cleaning up skill and getting ready for bed skill, the latter of which seems to happen around 7:00 pm. Cant remember what time the clean-up skill happened but it was in the evening time around the same time as getting ready for bed.

Unfortunately, I wasnt able to earn the 2 skills for them because on the second night of their rebellious stage, I was busy and so I was unable to watch for their second call (Im assuming that all it takes is two successful praising opportunities because it seems like they happen once a day and the rebellious stage only lasts for two days) for these skills.

Thats all that happened during these two days on my 4U.

Hello, fellow TamaTalkers! It's been a while! Though I often go through periods of inactivity Tamagotchi-wise due to work and other things going on in life, you can count on me to be lurking, to still be making purchases here and there, and to come back to logging. :D For those of you still following along, and to new readers just joining in too, thank you so much!

It's a nice, relaxing, rainy day off for me today and I was overcome with an immense urge to catch up on logging. Originally, I thought against backlogging because there are quite a bit of things to talk about, but I think I can do it, and it's fun to share these pictures anyway. Just give me a bit of time though because my work schedule is never the same week to week so my updates will be irregular. I will cover the rest of October. If I recall, I stopped running Tamagotchis in the beginning of November. After I catch up, I may begin running a Tamagotchi again.

As I mentioned above, despite my hiatus from running Tamagotchis, I still made some purchases.

I received my Aikatsu touch card and cover for the 4U from HLJ.

My latest batch from Japan arrived. I was pleasantly surprised because one of the sellers had included a bunch of free items, such as the guide books you see, and the 3 loose Tamagotchis pictured.

I get pretty excited about all my virtual pets but this newest addition is even more exciting to me: I finally tracked down a boxed Tamagotchi Restaurant for a decent price!

I've got to make an updated collection picture/video one of these days.

Anyway, I left off last time getting ready to log the events from October 18 (I worked that day so pictures were limited) and on. I'll log the events on October 18-19 and will probably stop there for this post.

Both my 4U characters evolved into Orenetchi, a character I've obtained before. Looks like I have to study the character charts a bit more closely (and not neglect my Tamagotchis so much :p ) so that I can start getting new characters again. I changed the icon background on one of my Tamagotchis to distinguish them a bit.

October 20, 2014

It was my mom's birthday on this day and I was quite busy, so I only took pictures here and there. I don't think I even took pictures of my +C, but Nemutchi was still there, no changes.

Another happy item of hers is the pair of swirl glasses, which is a little harder to obtain than just purchasing it from a store, so I waited on that for a little while since I was busy.

I must have been busy with work and other things during the following days because I'm showing in my pictures gallery that I didn't take pictures again until October 28. I'll stop here for now and resume a little later. Until then!

*sneaks back in*

Hey, everyone! :D

Wow, I haven't written in over a year, I apologize. I promised someone over at Instagram (who, I believe, is also a member here) that I would slowly resume logging again after the New Year, so here I am! I hope to start posting again a little more regularly, as I enjoy logging and sharing all my Tamagotchi adventures with you.

To start, I'll briefly catch you up on what's been going on with me. :)

  • My husband and I will be married 2 years this May!
  • I got a new job that's closer to home in a similar discipline (cardiac-neuro instead of just primarily cardiac)
  • My husband and I are in the process of moving to a new home that's closer to both sets of parents so now we live near family, which is nice
  • I'm now a day shift nurse so I'm now on a 7 am to 7:30 pm full-time schedule and I get to sleep at regular hours like normal people! :D
  • I made an Instagram account for my Tamagotchi/virtual pet adventures roughly 4 months ago so if I'm not lurking here/Tama Zone, I'm usually there
This will just be a brief update on what I've been running recently. There is no way I'd be able to catch you up on the sporadic instances when I've ran Tamagotchis over the past year so I hope this will suffice for now.
Currently, I've got my blue P's running because of the recent VDP release by Mr. Blinky and company, featuring the character Kikitchi...

16-01-23-09-09-38-895_deco.jpg

...as well as my Tamagotchi Ocean, which I've been trying to raise to adulthood (I was unsuccessful over MLK weekend but since I have a stretch of days off in a row, I figured I'd try again.

16-01-25-09-38-00-775_deco.jpg

Wow, sorry about the gigantic photos. Well, at least there aren't a ton of them. Gotta work on figuring out how to re-size (I just got a new computer. Not as intuitive as my old one and so I'm still trying to figure out my way around everything).

Anyway, thanks for reading! If you're curious about some of my more recent purchases and other Tamagotchi adventures, feel free to look me up either on Instagram @old_school_tama or through the various Tamagotchi groups (my alias is Annie Nightingale). Hopefully more to come here soon! :)
