OMGOSH Can someone tell me what happened?!

I connected my v3 with my v2 and when my v2 pet went over to give a present to my v3 pet, it changed it's appearance but only when it connects! When I connect with my sister which has a v3 now too, the appearance is normal. What happened?

it happens when u connect a v2 with a v1 its because their not the same version

My friend's old-fashioned v1 did the same thing. It's because one is too advanced for the other to know what kind of tamagotchi characters it has. So it looks like a random black blob.
