I know this isn't urgent, but I hate my current Tama, and I was wondering, when you reset it, does your Generation go back to 1, and do your points, items etc. disappear?

Yes, if you reset your tamagotchi completely you will go back to the 1st generation and have no items,points, presents or snacks. You will be starting from scratch. My advice would be to wait a few days for you tamagotchi to change again... preferable to starting all over!
