skipping generations?

Hi! I have read several times on this board that for certain things to happen, you must be an odd generation or a specific generation.

Is this true for v4, or are people referring to previous versions? For instance, someone said you could only get Makiko on an odd generation, and the same for getting a Mametchi.

The generation number (whether odd or even) apparently was a determining factor in which characters you could get for the Tamagotchi Connection v1, v2, and v3 models. It does not seem to be a determining factor for the Tamagotchi Connection v4.
