Tama families

Is it possible for a tamagotchi chararacter (teen) from a certain family to evolve into an adult from a different family? Has anybody had this experance before?

And do universal characters evolve into a character from any family?

Uh... Yeah I think it's possible... Not sure I remember someone talking about it but I think it can only happen with toddlers. Not sure
