how will you know that your tamagotchi needs that specific care? like if it's hungry, will it show the the food it wants or something??

Yes it will tell you that he/she is hungry (all sushi empty) with attention light on. You will also see the sushi in the scale icon.

When they are hungry, they do not exactly have a specific food in mind. Just feed them with anything whenever their hungry meters run low.
