The type of care you provide. For example, if you allow the hungry or happy hearts to empty and don't fill them within a certain period after they call for help.

Food dosen't affect your tama. It just makes it overweight. Skill points are the ones that affect your tama.

No generally it doesn't Only one thing about food does. How much you give it food. If it's overweight and unhappy play a game with it instead.

Tamagotchi Weight Chart:

Baby - 5LB - 10LB

Child - 15LB - 20LB

Teenager - 20LB - 25LB

Adult - 25LB - 50LB

Oldie - 30LB - 50LB (Less because if too fat it'll maybe die earlier depends on Version)
