Training?

I've heard about training on the V5 - but what is it? What does it increase? When does it happen? How do you do it? I'm sure this was in the instructions, but they got thrown away on accident.

I feel a bit stupid asking this...but I need help. I've heard people talking about "missing training" and how that decreases family bonds...
