The full-size one (not the toy one) will take your Tamagotchi character on a trip through space (and time?) to far off lands for a short while.

The toy one is just that -- a toy. Your tama will play with it much like a remote control plane or car.

It basically just plays with it. Your tama will watch the UFO flying as he/she controls it with a remote.
