press A+C together and then select sound off.

That is for Version one connection/connexion and not P1/Gen 1 though.

If you want to mute a Gen1/P1 you still press A+C but it won't show on screen 'sound on/off'- but the sound will turn off. You may have to have a few tries, but it will work!

Exactly as Spudilike said. It will work on any version of Tamagotchi Connexion/Connection/Plus, as well as Keitai/Keitai Akai and Entama/Uratama. For the old Tamagotchi, however, just hold A and C, they will make a beep and the sound will turn off.

I can't think of any good reason to mute it though other than saving the battery.

If you want to mute it press A and C together at the same time. It will say SOUND?. Select OFF. Viola!! You've turned off the sound!
