Some topics I see have a little envolpe on it in staed of a poll or something what does it mean??

Normal topics that don't have polls attached will display as a yellow box with what appears to be a page with writing on it. I can't say I have ever seen an envelope though. :S Could you be more specific about where you are seing this?
