What happened?

So I woke up today and I paused my sister's tamagotchi (I was busy) but when I unpaused it, it told to enter a new name and when I did, it was a baby! I don't know what happened, it still had all the items and points but her old "tamagotchi" and it's baby was gone. Help!

After a while, a tamagotchi's parents will leave it's child. Perhaps that is what happened?
