I did a little research on google.com and I found a handy-dandy english to japanese, japanese to english translator and I was able to figure out what some of the Tamagotchi names mean.

Tsubutchi<Tsubu<grain,

Puchichi<Puchi<small,

Mizutamatchi<Mizo<water,

Marutchi<Maru<Circle,

Kuribotchi<kuri<chestnut,

Hitodetchi<Hito<Starfish,

Harutchi<Haru<spring,

Ichigotchi<Ichigo<strawberry,

Ringotchi<Ringo<apple,

Hinotamatchi<Hino<fallingstar/fireball,

Gozarutchi<Gozaru<To Be (Pol) (IV),

Hanatchi<Hana<nose,

Debatchi<Deba<Overbite, protruding tooth, stuff having to do with teeth, etc.,

Kuchipatchi<kuchi<Mouth, opening,

Tarakotchi<Tarako<cod roe,

Mimitchi<mimi<ear,

Mametchi<Mame<healthy,honest,hardworking,faithful,devoted,etc.,

Shitekitchi<shiteki<Pointing out,

Nazotchi<Nazo<Riddle,puzzle,eniga,

Togetchi<Toge<Thorn,splinter,spine,biting words,

Shimashimatchi<Shima<Stripe,Island,

"Tama" means ball. (As in Mizutamatchi, Mohitamatchi and the like)

"Tamago" means egg. (As in Tamagotchi)

"Me" means eye. (As in Memetchi)

"Choko" means chocolate. (As in Puchichokotchi)

 
Thanks for posting this, it's helpful to know what the Tamagotchis were named after. I'd like to add that the child character "kinakomotchi" is named after a Japanese food called Kinako Mochi, which is kind of a rice cake.

 
In V4.5, I'm sure Hana in Hanagatatchi means flower.

And if you look at Tamatalk's character chart, Shiro in Shirotsubutchi means white.

you imagine what the caracters would be called if tamagotchis were made in united states?? :lol:

 
hey thats really kool :D cause my is mametchi thats kool i learn italian tho :p thats kool that they have meanings :p

 
Here's mine, it's not a character on any Tamagotchis, but it's a Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 character: Chibipatchi > Chibi = Small.
