It could be because when it was a baby it didn't sleep or it could be because it is night time you could try to set the clock to am if you haven't already.

Tamagotchis will sleep all night - for 10-12 hours. If the time is set wrong, it may sleep during the day. Try setting the time, go to the clock and press A+C and then A to scroll between numbers and B to move between digits.

Right now for me (8:50 AM) it might say 8:50 PM. Make sure you always check if its AM or PM before confirming it. Not doing so might result in your Tamagotchi becoming a poor care adult or even it dying.

Toddlers wake up at 8:00am-9:00am (mostly 8:00am though).
