what that is outrageses!!! I get on neopets a fair bit and I know alot of people that do, if they dont want there kids on it block the site from there internet, and besides its not like its real money and real gambling! im signing

I kind of agree with the parents and psychologist on this one. Really young children can't recognise what's real and what's not. So saying they know the 'risks' would be inaccurate. It's probably easier to just ban all the gambling games or limit them by age.

hm... yeah i have to agree with the child pyschologist on this one. perhaps setting an age limit would be appropriate, since young minds and early gambling isn't very good. but then again, neopets for 18+ seems a little too outrageous. 
i mean, don't get me wrong... i think neopets are awesome
, but i think the pyschological reasoning behind it is very important and legitimate. the world is corrupt as is.

I can see where you guys are coming from but look at it this way. They shut down all the games over there. Not all of neopets games are gambling, in fact most of them aren't. It isn't fair to us older players and I don't want to neo disapear.

What!? Maybe they should stop the gambling games. But just think what is shown on the news every day: dead bodies all over the screen And they want to ban Neopets? This world is insane (O_o)

I'm getting angry here! Giving your kids MC Donald's food, that's a crime. And if the parents looked a bit further they would know that gambling is certainly not they only way to buy food for your Neopets. In fact you can get omelette and pudding for free. My gosh, some people should just get a job instead of having too much time to complain about these stupid things. Aaaargh!

Exactly. I used to play Neopets... not anymore, due to different reasons, but I KNOW that gambling is not the only way to make money. In fact, in the four years I played, not *once* did I gamble... I stuck with the flash games instead. People are blowing things way out of porportion.

See, you may know it, but that's not always the case for the more younger children. (Think 4, 5, or 6.) Children at that age haven't developed a mature thinking process yet that allows them to distinguish between something such as gambling in real life and play-gambling. I think that's what they were more concerned about.

It comes down to the fact that these parents should have been watching what their child was doing, not sitting watching tv. Anyone boycotting Mcdonalds? OMG!, I just read the artical and I burst out laughing!, How stupid are these people!? my gosh it's a site with games! It's not real life! neo isin't about gambling either! It's about fun!, Also did these people ever realize neo DOES have age limits?, Ok ok, thats one thing. But now, selling toys about neo is bad!? how low is that!?, OMG! it's a toy! They need to get real! But hey, thats their opinion.

I would like someone to show me where it says that neopets is going to be shut down because it doesnt say that at ALL. This is just a panic producing board. Anyway, neopets was originally made for college students and when you signed up you had to use the number for you college to activate your account. Now it has been over run by little kids and accounts get frozen for the slightest thing. Before, freezing an account only happened when something REALLY bad went down and now if you say you want a certain pet to adopt from the pound, you get frozen. That is crap. It should be an adult site once more!

do you know the reason is the gambleing thing i have noticed that neopets havent had alot of good product placement and their advertisments had dwindled down. it could be the fact that their sponcers have stopped sponcering them. and they arent making money like the used to to keep the site going. so they are forced to shut it down.
