My screen kept going blank too, and I kept resetting and downloading. It turned out to be a dead battery. Finally one time I did the reset/download thing, the dead battery icon came up.

Nope, if you reset and download, the baby will still be there.

LOL! Yep, it's the Christmas tree! When I first saw it, I knew my tama might have been close to death, so I didn't really look at it too closely, just got it out of there and fed my poor tamagotchi. Thanks!

When I looked at my tamagotchi today after not paying attention to it for a few hours, there was this weird little guy to the left of my character. I hit a button and he went away, and then it showed that my tama was sick, had pooped, and had no hungry or happy hearts. Was this guy something...

Sorry, but tamamum is a guide here, and that's her job, to put threads where they belong when someone puts them in the wrong place.

It will say list full if you have so many friends there's not room for any more.

Are you pausing it at night? If the tama is paused at midnight the parent won't go away. I have one that has stayed for a month because I have kept it paused overnight.

After I threw out the battery, I wondered if maybe it just needed to be rebooted. Sometimes if you just take the battery out and put it back in, glitches will heal themselves. If it happens again I'm going to try that.

I gave it a new battery and it works great now! That's never happened to me before, that the battery was still good, but not strong enough to let it connect. Thanks!

There's some information on the V4.5 in the Tamagotchi News section of this board. I think I'll wait for V5 before I buy a new one. My V1, V2, V3 and V4 are keeping me pretty busy right now!

Yup, it doesn't matter if your hearts are all full, if they don't weigh enough, they won't play.

That sounds sort of scary, soaking a battery in an acid like lemon juice! You can remove rust from a battery and the contacts in the machine with a pencil eraser, or a stiff brush, or even a little baking soda, but I don't think I'd want to soak a battery in acid.

No, I am definitely doing it right, because, like I said, all my other tamagotchis are connecting just fine.

That's why I thought maybe the battery was too low to connect, even though it's not low enough to show the dead battery X. I'll try giving it a new battery and see what happens, but I don't think that's it.

Yes, thank you, that was a very good and understandable answer! I have chosen the right version, and am not doing it in sunlight or bright light. I have a V2, V3, and V4 in my hands right now, and the V2 and V4 are having no problems at all connecting with each other. I have not had any...
