That's cool! I once had a v2, but the A button got ripped off and I'm giving my used v3 to my cousin because I already had a v4, but too bad that I was hoping to buy a v4.5 and now there'll be a release of v5. I'd probably want the version after the one after it.

I haven't got a V5 yet and I'm UK (Europe) so I have to grab one at Christmas.

say, does anyone know what's with the key? is it supposed to be representing something or is it something to amuse the tamagotchi-killing tikes that try to grab at it [or is it just a 2-in-one key-and-tama deal?] or is it a key to a digital tamagotchi demention with transformer robots and giant pickles and huge candy covered in nacho cheese sauce and PEOPLE ON THE SIDEWALK WHO PLAY THE BANJO ALL DAY AND WILL SHAVE YOUR BACK FOR A NICKEL!!!

*GASP!*

yeah, you pretty much get the point. but the whole point is, what IS with that key thingey in place of the antenna?

They key thing is suppose to be an item you can obtain in the FamiTama

The Japanese FamiTama has a little plastic key attached to it. It's just a decoration.

I think it represents the house key that some children (so-called "latchkey kids") wear on a string around their neck.

I found some V5 designs.

they are located a little down this page:

https://tamagotch.channel.or.jp/event_campaign/whf08.html

Interestingly enough, the English designs replace the Famitama's key antenna with a little house one, and give us the keychain on the right side of the egg back. o_O

But it also shows that the screen and icons of the V5 are the same as the Famitama's, so there's a little less worrying of "dumbing down". ;)

Left is a Connection (USA), middle two are Connexion (European), and the right is Asian/Oceanic (Outside Japan).

Awesome, thank you very much for this.

So I guess the design of the V5 will remain un-known? I'd prefer having the key as decoration.

And it's so cool that it is coming out in Jan! I can't wait, although I am kinda sad to see the Tamagotchis progressing so well with more and more updates, know what I mean?

Yes, the V5 and Famitama will be able to connect, and breed. :) It's mentioned in this press release:

It's actually a television (like the Famitama's TV icon). It's just kind of hard to see.

wait, is the version 5 different than the Fami Tama version?
As far as we currently know, they will be exactly the same. Only the shell will be different.
