Farah laughed bitterly as she sent another first year sprinting out of her compartment, scared as hell. Flicking the door closed with a wave of her wand, she felt the urge to facepalm at how these kids were so easy to scare.

She shook her head disapprovingly.

They wouldn't even make it into Griffindoor House, let alone Slytherin, the obvious best house.

(Orange- denied. your bio is way too short and not descriptive. sorry)

Valerie and the quiet boy- Leo was it?- didn't say much for the remainder of the train ride. A few others joined them , filling up the train. She bought herself a chocolate frog from the trolley and a few jelly beans. This was quite an awkward train ride.

Finally, the train arrived at Hogwarts. Valerie hustled off the train to avoid the huge crowd of students; she hated big crowds. Especially since all the first-year's were either crying because they were homesick already or someone lost a pet, or a piece of luggage. She grabbed her things and began her way into the giant castle. The school year was about to officially begin. She couldn't wait for the welcoming feast. That's when she made new friends. Valerie was friendly- for a hardcore Slytherin girl- but she always waited for people to approach her. She rarely went up to strangers first.

Nyan had crawled into Jake's bag and was purring, he was fine with this as it meant he would look less ridiculous as he climbed off the train onto the platform. Knowing the routines, he climbed into one of the carriages. He pulled out a book he'd found in Flourish and Blotts(Sp?) called '101 fun jinxes to play with your friends!' Not that it mattered, because although he was a fifth year, he didn't have any real friends. He had lived off books since the beginning, rather like he had in primary school.

Tyler looked up, not completely aware of the train stopping until he saw people moving about outside his compartment. He scrambled up, grabbing his trunk from under the seat and dragging it outside. Looking around quickly, he joined the crowd that was pushing everyone towards the doors. He sighed, tripping slightly as he jumped out of the train, and trudged along towards the carriages.

Pippa, who had been staring out of the window, looked up when everyone in her compartment started standing up. She followed suit, grabbing her trunk from the rack and walking along beside them. Oh, how she wished she'd taken out a book like she always did.

As the train came to a stop, Leo put Taisho back in his cat basket and took his trunk with him. Walking over to the carriages, he boarded a random one, not really looking to sit with anybody in particular. Sitting down, he took a chocolate frog out of his pocket and began to munch on it, of lack of better things to do.

Tyler reached the carriages, hopping onto one after pausing for a second to stare at the seemingly empty space at the front of the carriage. He had never understood how they moved, as he had no experience with Thestrals. The five-year mystery was solved at that moment, however, when he heard a voice from just above him say, "They're pulled by Thestrals. Not many people can see them." Tyler looked up at Pippa quizically, pulling himself up onto the carriage and sitting down. Pippa sighed, tearing her eyes away from the skeletal horses to elaborate. "They're kind of like horses. People who have seen death can see them." Tyler looked away awkwardly, and Pippa curled up, turning away in favour of staring at the Thestrals intently.

(When in doubt, have your characters interact with each other!)

Sitting in the random carriage he had just gotten into, Leo overheard two people discussing thestrals. He couldn't help but glance over to the front of the carriage, where he saw eerie looking skeletal horses. He himself had seen death before, when.. Forcing himself not to think about it, Leo reached into his pocket and got another chocolate frog, which he automatically began to munch on.

Raine wanted to see a hippogriff.

She held onto her wand tightly. Tia went into a carriage, and Raine followed.

People stared strangely at Tia, but Raine didn't mind. Tia sat in a random carraige, she was alone. Tia dug into a bag of Chocolate Frogs and handed the bag to Raine. Raine opened it and gave one to Tia.

Raine felt nice in the carriage, and she hoped no one else would come. She felt perfectly fine there. Raine peeked over her back, and saw a strange horse.

"What's that?" she wondered, looking at the horses.

Pippa looked up from the horses to look around the carriage. No one else besides the boy who didn't know about Thestrals and another boy that she definitely didn't recognise. She gave a small shrug, turning back and focusing on the skeletal horse again, watching as it's breath swirled in the cold air. She shivered, pulling her cloak around herself even tighter. Tyler rocked awkwardly on his seat, following Pippa's eyeline. "So, can you see them, then?" he asked, stumbling on his words. Pippa looked up, raising her eyebrows, then nodded. "I'm not exactly going to go into why I can see them, though..."

Raine stood up suddenly.

"I have to know what it is!" she shouted suddenly.

She sat back down, embarrassed. She didn't mean to shout, she was sure the people in front of her and behind her heard her shouting, and were probably going to come see what it was.

Raine covered her eyes, scared. Tia seemed to read her mind and stood in front of the door, waiting for anyone to come see what was going on. Raine decided to hide.

Tyler loooked up wildly when Raine shouted, scanning the quickly darkening horizon for what it could have been. He shrugged, sliding his trunk further below his seat and fiddling with the fastening of his cloak. Completely unaware of what he was doing, he started humming the Hogwarts School Song, which warrented his a quizzical glance from Pippa. Pippa sighed, bored, and slid her wand out from up her sleeve, polishing it on her cloak and flinching when a few sparks shot out of the end of it.

After watching the thestrals for a few more moments, Leo directed his gaze away from the thestrals and refocused his scrutinizing gaze to his carriage-mates. He couldn't help but wonder if any of them could see the thestrals. Given the chances, he bet only one other person could see them, as it wasn't so common you'd see death before your eyes, even in an entire lifetime. These thoughts recalled a memory that Leo wished more than anything to lose. Nothing in his face showed that he was thinking of what happened.

"Lumos," Pippa whispered, laying her lit wand to the side on her seat for a second so that she could pull her trunk out and open it. She grabbed her wand again, holding it above her trunk and letting it bathe it in light so she could fish out Hogwarts: A History. After a quick glance at the others in her carriage, she slid her trunk back and curled up with the book, reading by her wandlight. Tyler watched Pippa, not really sure what else to do, then resumed his fidgeting.

Raine looked up, as no one was coming, she lifted her wand. A couple of books flew out. These would keep her occupied, as she opened Hogwarts, a History and started reading.

"Hmm... The Chamber of Secrets... Ah, basilisks..." Raine wondered what they looked like.

Green, maybe? Purple? Maybe they are so cute it kills you...

Pippa looked up from the book, her wand illuminating her face. She looked betwween the two boys, waiting for them to say somthing, then decided to jump right in and start the conversation off. "So, uh...What houses are you guys in?" Tyler looked up quickly, then shrugged, slightly embarrassed. "Hufflepuff. Why?" Pippa shrugged, looking back down at her book, before sighing and looking back up. "No one's talking. This is kind of boring."

Realizing someone was talking to him, Leo snapped out of his thoughts and looked up to see a girl talking to him and this other guy. Fixing the girl with his gaze, he decided being antisocial wasn't gonna get him anywhere in life. After another moment of hesitation, he replied, "Gryffindor." He wondered if there was anybody else in the carriage who was in Gryffindor.

"Oh..." Pippa said, looking back down at her book. "I'm in Ravenclaw." She sighed, running her wand over the book to get better lighting. "So, what year are you guys going into? I'm now a fourth year." Tyler shifted in his seat uncomfortably, on the verge of answering Pippa when the carriage started to slow down. "Oh, good, I'm apsolutely starving!"

"... Fifth year." Leo looked out of the carriage to see where they were, and he was glad to see that Hogwarts was within view. This meant this awkward carriage ride would be over soon. He felt like hitting himself, realizing that he really beginning to think way too much like an ultra antisocial person. He didn't really want to be antisocial, but it was so easy for him to become antisocial.

Pippa sighed, flicking her fringe back. "Nox," she muttered, sliding her wand back up her sleeve and stuffing the book into her trunk. She jumped out of the carriage, suprised to find herself relieved to be leaving. She looked up at the castle, already longing to be curled up in the warm sheets of her four-poster bed. Tyler followed her, his mind only on the food that they would be serving.
