So I started both up and got one boy, one girl. Immediately upon putting batteries in, I noticed the screen contrast difference. See here:

I am assuming one is using the old screen that had problems back in Europe. I went to the contrast adjustment screen and both show 3 bars. For the blue I switched it to one bar. Lo and behold, it now looks the same as the purple for the 'normal' contrast on it.

So don't fret, if you get a dark screen like shown above, just switch the contrast all the way to the left and it'll be perfectly viewable.

To go to the contrast screen: press B and C together on the clock screen.

They changed screen resolution, it's impossible for the EU version have that black tone around the objects

Okay so they have different screens... not only they sell them much cheaper in the US, they also improved the screen in there, WTF BanDai that's really really unfair for european buyers.

So I'm guessing they sold them here just as a test? they saw what people thought about them and improved them for the US, I don't think is right at all... but it's a good strateggy for selling more... since now the ones that bought them in the EU will want a US one =.=

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they changed the screen, at least it shows they care about peoples opinions, but it's still unfair for the people that already bought one xD

Also, do you notice any differences in sound or paint, or is it just the screen that it's different? (since some people also complained about the sound and cheap paint)

I just check the Toys R Us website. All 6 Tamagotchi Friends shell designs are currently unavailable. They went pretty quick.

Tomorrow I'm going to check the TRU that's near my work on lunch hour. I MIGHT get one after all, if they have the blue one. ETA: I might buy some to sell on ebay.

I ink the paint is the same as on the text on the back of the T.F. That same on the TamaGo too that rubs off after a while. Which, I warn, heat will make it happen faster.

On that note. I wrote down the FCC/IC things because my gut says we may need them as a login or info one day soon. I would recommend you do it if you haven't already had them rub off or copied them down to paper.

Boohoo, emailed Funtastic again but they said they have no information regarding the Australian release of the Tamagotchi Friends at this stage.

My boyfriend in the US better buy one for me :)

The sound is like the Tama-Go, but it sounds... weaker and more scratchy kinda? Maybe because of the NFC inside, I don't know.

As for shells, the screens on both had micro scratches and weren't flawless. There are scratches on the shell from manufacturing (very tiny and only seen in light, not felt, but this is try of all plastic toys). My blue one seems fine from anything. The purple though, on the gold ring, I see imperfections and places where the paint chipped and was painted over again. Too afraid to run my fingers over it much for fear of scratching it up and chipping the paint off. There is no gloss coating on the gold ring.

On the flip side, the painted designs on both are pretty solid and don't seem to scratch off well at all and aren't smudged or anything. And the hearts on the card to show the icons are nice and help make the background look nice..

Does anyone know if they have been officially released yet and if so, where to get one online? I'm currently out of the country but really want to get the blue BFF stars one... I don't want to miss my opportunity, haha!

Also, I've been checking the TRU website everyday and nothing's come up. Only the red iD L shell design one was available for shipping for a few days, now none of them are.

I took a trip to a local TRU... and sure enough... :D

I bought the blue iDL-like design.

I think everyone knows that I'm not exactly a fan of this version, but it feels good buying a Tamagotchi right off the shelf compared to getting them online and waiting for it to arrive in the mail. :)

I really want an American style Tamagotchi Friends. The three different games look fantastic.

Here's what I want to know -

  • What are the two unlockable games? It would be appreciated if someone with an American Tamagotchi Friend would collect 30 Jewellery pieces and raise the BFF meter to 50% so we can check out the new games.
  • What's on the other side of the Tamagotchi character poster? I saw in Ra's video that it had a picture of the figures. I'd love it if someone would take a photo of the back of the poster.

Another point to mention is that the Wave 2 (US) packaging is different from the Wave 1 (original European) packaging. There is a pink gradient at the top of the packaging. The European packaging is all white. Also, the shape that says "Open!" in the lower right corner is a star on the US packaging. It is a circle on the European packaging.

My two that married last night were due to a half full BFF meter. So I am not sure if I unlocked something or not. I had to pause it almost imediately because I was at work and we got busy... Otherwise, I am getting up there with the jewels for 30. I can atleast start there when I unpause my babies.

The other side of the poster is a character relation chart.

Anyone else have button issues? I have a perfect feeling pink idl, my blue bff middle is iffy but the a/c are okay. While my purple is decent, similar to the tamago... Totally effects games I play with each tama. /Driving/Dance/IceCreamFinding ...

Most of the photos shown these Tamagotchi Friends being sold for $19.99 but the ToysRUs near my area has them for $22.99.

If you guys did not know, you can do a price match in store using the online website (which displays them for $19.99).

The game unlocked by getting the BFF meter to 50% is Flower Count, with the car picking up/dropping flowers, I would have had the other game by now but I kept getting jackpots when I connected mine :c

The buttons can be iffy for me too, but only on one? Which is weird They're really difficult to press and Im lucky I have long nails or else I dont think Id be able to

It was really really nice to buy a tama in the store though, even just to see it before I buy it, I missed that

Edit: The second game from the thirty jewelry pieces is cake catch from the bakery job on the V4! I love this game!

Also the buttons seem to stop responding when I hold them down so thats another problem

Weee I finally got me 2 TFs today at the old TRU!

I got the blue BFF and the pink and black with the bow on the front.

I asked the people up front at my TRU if they had any tamas in stock, and they said no. Then I went and looked and found it myself hehe. ^___^

I actually meant what was on the back of the character relation chart. But it's okay, it turns out to be a picture of all the figures. If Sailor Rosette has not unlocked any of the secret games yet, perhaps there's a different way to unlock them on the Wave 2 (US) Tamagotchi Friends?

Yup, the jewels. Collecting 30 at a time. Same games unlock I would guess. Glowers and Cake games. Maybe with that Deka if we get one... Doubt we will see that for a while yet if we do.
