At least that train proposition passed... where I live there is already an very effective rail system, Bay Area Rapid Transit, BART, up and running... with this new high speed train things will be awesome. Imagine, San Francisco to LA in just a few hours .... XD Sorry, I at least want to be happy about what went right.

When was it announced that it was passed?

I beleve(I know I spelt that wrong, I'm so flippen tired!) that it was in most newspapers.

So we elect a black president, showing that America isn't discriminatory anymore.

Then we pass a lot that's all about discrimination.

We need to make up our minds.

I thought the law was only passed in California..?... or is it national?
Yeah, Prop 8 was only passed in this here Cali TM. But I kind of affects everyone and it shows that America has a semi-homophobic state. I thought america was all about freedom, yet here one state is, stripping away peoples rights. I heard that the government is seriously thinking about not letting gay people STAYmarried.

But who exactly is the government?

I find it interesting that it was California of all the states to ban gay marriage.

Mainly because most of California is liberal.

This is one of the first times I've ever seen rights taken away from people.

She was yes DX!

?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?@?

Anyway. I just feel like we are going to be known as "that one country with that one homophobic state."

Even if you are a firm beleiver in the "traditonal" definition of marriage don't take people's rights away.

I heard some people say something about gay marriage being taught about in public schools. You must keep in mind that if or if not gay marriage is taught in schools, part of these kids in American schools are going to end up gay anyway. Being friends wih someone who is gay will not make you gay and nor will hearing or being told about it will make you gay.

:p It's liberal to pass the law and conservative not to. Don't confuse true conservativeness with the neo-conservatives of today. True conservativeness is all about less restrictions and less government involvement. Liberalism is more let's pass lots of laws. So really, it doesn't surprise me that California is passing a bunch of ridiculous laws, it's a liberal state, as you've said.

With every law passed there is some restriction passed. It goes hand-in-hand. Just like people under the age of 18 can't buy pornography or drink.... isn't that a right taken away from people? What about the right to have a private conversation on your telephone? That's been taken away from us too. :) This isn't the first time that laws have restricted our rights... it's just that with most we have no say and we don't notice that we're being restricted.

;) Really, I'm not surprised that this passed it just shocks me how intolerant people are. I've also heard that there were a few other states that passed similar laws... ;)

It's kind of ironic that people elect a black president and then suddenly turn around and start discriminating again.

:furawatchi: Yeah, we live in an age where endless information is literally at your fingertips but it seems like people are less likely to use there brains when it comes to laws that enforce intolerance. B) What is wrong with the majority of people?

:furawatchi: I say smart people need to start making more smart babies so that we can overtake the dumb people and finally fix this f987ed up world...

Gay marriage should be allowed. People are just dumb to think only a woman and a man can be married. It's not their life.

I'm not religious or anything, but I think God (whoever god may be) would want us to be happy and be able marry whoever the heck we want. Gay people included!!
