Theory by: Tangleface of WindClan

Why I Believe the Jay/Leaf/Crow Theory

* Leafpool was getting noticeably fat- was it that she was only eating a lot, or bearing kits?

* Squirrelflights milk never came- what if they aren’t even her kits?

* Squirrelflight sure was early getting out of the nursery- usually queens need time to recover until their kits become apprentices. If she had kits, she would more than likely need time to recover before going back to her warrior duties.

* Jaypaw recalls in a dream about having to make a journey when he was a tiny kit. Leafpool confirmed the dream to be true. BOTH Leafpool and Squirrelflight were with him and his littermates. What if Leafpool and Squirrelflight went out of the hollow so that no cat would see Leafpool give birth to the kits, not Squirrelflight?

* While Jaykit, Hollykit and Lionkit were in the nursery, Leafpool would sometimes give them treats like honey. Jaykit thinks that she is trying to suck-up to them, maybe she is just giving treats to her kits because she must live a life as their Medicine Cat, not their mother.

* Think of Yellowfang and Brokenstar for a minute. Yellowfang was a medicine cat, therefore not allowed to have kits. Her son, Brokenstar was usually angry (I would imagine) and of course, ambitious. To me, that sounds a bit like Jaypaw, he always seems angry at something, and when he found out about the prophecy he sure did sound ambitious! What if that, his blindness, and other things not mentioned in the books that are out yet are punishment to Leafpool for having the kits?

* Now, think of their pelt colors. Jaypaw is a gray tom with burning blue eyes, Lionpaw is a golden colored tom with amber eyes, and Hollypaw is a black tabby she-cat. Now, where do you see gray or black pelts in Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight’s families? I sure don’t! What about Crowfeather’s family? He is descended from the great leaders Windstar and Gorsestar. Their pelt colors are: brown she-cat and gray tabby. Maybe Crowfeather’s fathers have a brown pelt? But it sure is more likely that Jaypaw got his gray pelt and blue eyes from Crowfeather!

* When Jaypaw wandered away from the Thunderclan camp, he walked into Windclan territory. He said that the wind felt oddly familiar and wonderful. Windclan cats love the wind and open moors- what if he is Crowfeather’s son, then the wind should feel like home to him like any Windclan cat!

* In the play (Warriors: Sunset: We Need to Talk), right when Crowfeather says that he and Nightcloud had Breezepaw as their kit, Leafpool immediately changes her mind about telling him SOMETHING. It’s likely that she was going to tell him that she was due for having kits, but since Crowfeather seems to have taken on another mate and ALREADY had kits, she’d not tell him.

* Leafpool has an unusually strong connection with Starclan- what if Jaypaw inherited his strong connection from Leafpool?

*Bluestar, Yellowfang and Lionheart came to Leafpool, showing her the 3 stars. Why would they show it to her, unless it has something to do with her? Plus, Firestar told no cat about his dream or meeting with Skywatcher, but Leafpool still acts wary of Jaypaw. Could she have interpreted her dream with the 3 stars to be her own children because she wasn’t really supposed to have them?

* Crow- a glossy black bird that has a harsh cry Jay- a noisy bird related to the crow but with brighter colors

Similar? Yup, also, Crowfeather (crowpaw at the time) was one described as “a dark smoky gray, almost black tom with blue eyes.” Jaypaw is just a gray tom with blue eyes, I guess he’s of lighter coloring than Crowfeather! * Some ask, "Why do Tigerclaw and Hawkfrost seem so interested in Jaypaw, Lionpaw and Hollypaw if their not kin?" Well, I'm confused at that too, But I would suspect that, as a Starclan cat is able to sense great power, cats from the dark forest can, too. Even though their not kin, Tigerstar WAS watching as Skywatcher gave his mysterious prophecy about Firestar's kin... he probably wants to use their power. Also, they would be looking for a chance to use Firestar's kin against him......

* In Firestar's Quest, EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER has the Leafpool picture on it! What if she's trying to tell the reader something... give them clues... you know, this is the book with the prophecy for the POWER OF THREE, what if Erin Hunter's trying to show a connection between Leafpool and the Prophecy? It the prophecy IS talking about Jaypaw, Lionpaw and Hollypaw, maybe it's trying to show that Leafpool has a "Special Connection" with them? * In Dark River, it says when Hollypaw goes missing that Leafpool seemed more worried than Squirrelflight- it maybe coincidence, but what if it's motherly worry? Squirrelflight's SUPPOSED to be Hollypaw's mother, why wasn’t she more worried? Leafpool's supposed to be calm about things (med. cat duty), why was she really worked up?
I am now convinced. :]

See, I support and make up the SquirrelxAsh=Lion and Jay, and CrowxLeaf=Holly theory. 8D I have a whole essay, if you like. And a fanfiction explaining Jaypaw's blindness.

Sure. Lemme go fetch them from the Warriors forum I go on.

Wait, sorry, it was the SquirrelxAshxBramble=Jay and Lion. She-cats can have one litter of kits from many different fathers.

&&story

Squirrelflight was in a hollowed out tree, with Leafpool. Both of them were absolutely stunned. "Sister, why did we come out here anyways?"

"H-he musn't know." Leafpool's tone was shaky and slightly bitter but reminiscent. She was obviously thinking about Crowfeather, though Squirrelflight was thinking about Brambleclaw and Ashfur. Suddenly she remembered, and began to lick her two kits; one was sort of a grayish color, and another one, a golden tabby. Leafpool was licking a kit also; this one was very dark colored; and it would probably be black. A jolt went down Leafpool's spine as Squirrelflight's emotions went on high. "B-but, one of my kits looks like Ashfur! Do you think he'll suspect...?" Squirrelflight was now frantic, as Leafpool's emotions pitted to one side and another. I must calm her down! Its too soon after a kitting to be like that... Leafpool hunted in her small bunch of herbs she had brought. "Thyme, thyme...where is it?"

No thyme was to be found.

Squirrelflight buried her face in her paws woefully. "What shall I do, Leafpool? I can't just tell him I have one of Ashfur's kits!"

"Calm down, just calm down." Leafpool tried; though she knew that her efforts wouldn't do.

"B-but.."

Leafpool stood in thought for a moment, then tried to calm herself down. Of course! If her emotions were on high, then Squirrelflight's would be even higher. Herbs that substitute thyme...Chickweed? No...Chamomile? Was it in the bundle? Leafpool sniffed through her bundle, and sure enough, there was just the smallest trace of chamomile, and some poppy seeds. "Here." She pushed the herbs under Squirrelflight's nose, and her sister ate them; she was too tired to be stubborn. Leafpool curled around her own dark kit, as Squirrelflight became drowsy and curled around the golden tabby and gray tabby.

Cold winds seeped through the tree, howling. "This is no proper nursery.." Leafpool started digging and pitching snow out. Then she would scrape some soft bark from the rotting tree, and lichen. That might make a decent nest; and if she could catch a bird, yes, that would work. She had left her kit mostly in the care of Squirrelflight, since she was the one who knew medicine. Squirrelflight had scooted into the corner of the area, so as to give Leafpool room. Great Starclan, my paws are freezing! Leafpool's thoughts buzzed as she licked the snow off of her paws. Back to work she went, scraping down some of the half-rotted wood and lichen. A small squeak emitted from the corner as one of the kits most likely shoved their paws on another. "Leafpool, kits aren't supposed to open their eyes that fast, I don't think.."

The gray tabbie's eyes were wide open, and blank as snow and lichen brushed into them. "Great Starclan, no. Close your eyes again!" Leafpool panicked. This is my fault! My sister's kit, got blinded by ME! The kitten closed his eyes again. "H-he'll be fine." Leafpool bluffed for her sister's comfort. At least both of them didn't know medicine. "No! He won't. Its my fault, I wasn't wrapped around him as well. I stopped licking him first." Leafpool's emotions jolted from side to side as her and Squirrelflight both felt guilty. My fault, her fault, my fault..her fault...MY fault.

"I'll..go catch us something." Leafpool said, and she padded out of the hollow.

A bird's wing flashed in front of Leafpool's face. "Mousedung!" She spat. Her reflexes were now slower from not hunting in a while. She opened her mouth slightly. The scent of mouse flooded into it. Directing her gaze toward the scent; the mouse was sitting on a root, nibbling a seed. Light footed, then pounce. Leafpool balanced her weight on her haunches, and pounced on the mouse. Finally, a good catch.

She padded back to the hollowed tree, with the mouse in her jaws. "Hey, Squirrelflight, I got us a mouse..." Squirrelflight was dozing, with her tail wrapped around the kits. Leafpool smiled, and sliced her claw along the mouse, dividing it into two. She set the larger half over for Squirrelflight, and dug into her small half. She wasn't the one who had kits to provide for. Not..anymore, at least. She had decided to give Squirrelflight her kit as soon as her sister woke up.

A few hours had passed since Leafpool came in from hunting; mostly, she and her sister had been sleeping. "Ehh, whuzzat?" Squirrelflight drowsily rose her head as a kit poked her.

"Your finally up, huh? Theres mouse there for you." Leafpool said, touching her sister's shoulder with her tail. Squirrelflight eagerly ate her share of the kill, carefully shifting from under her kits. Leafpool curled around them while her sister ate, fondly looking down at the small kittens. Guilt shot through her when she saw the gray tabby again. He'll probably end up blind, and its my fault.

"No he WON'T!" Squirrelflight hissed, sensing Leafpool's thoughts through their connection. "He'll be fine! Even you said so."

"I-I know that." Leafpool bluffed again, curling her tail around the gray one. "Will you, take my kit for me?"

"The black one?" Squirrelflight's tone became less denial, and more understanding.

"Yes, the black one."

"Of course. Do you have any name requests?"

"Yes; her name is Hollykit--it is a she, I checked. Please don't tell her that I'm her mother, though."

"I'll make sure she won't find out." As Squirrelflight said so, Leafpool felt a sense of security again. Hopefully I can avoid trying to tell Crowfeather again...

It had been two days; the winds had let up, and it was getting warmer. On the dawn of that day, the sisters had left with the kits in their mouths and on their backs, and soon arrived in Thunderclan territory again. The bushes rustled, and out stepped Brambleclaw. "What? Kits?" He was surprised. "Squirrelflight had her kitting on the journey, thats all."

"They're wonderful." Brambleclaw soon went from surprised to absolutely ecstatic. "Come on, I'll escort you back to camp. Firestar will want to know what Starclan said."

It was over. All over, never to haunt Leafpool again...

Essay

Yes, I know this is terrible. xDD I was tired, okay?

The Squirrel/Ash=Jay Theory

Written by Captain Lillytail/Princess09

As we see in The Power Of Three , Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw have three kits; Jaypaw, a mottled gray tom, Hollypaw, a black she-cat, and Lionpaw, a golden tabby tom. Many fans think that Leafpool and Crowfeather are parents to Hollypaw, Jaypaw, or both. But if we take a closer look, Crowfeather is supposedly a very dark gray tom; close to black. Ashfur, whom Squirrelflight spent a lot of time with when she was against Brambleclaw, is a medium shade of gray with darker flecks. She-cats can also hold kits in one litter from many different fathers. So, it is quite probable that Squirrelflight and Ashfur are the parents of Jaypaw and Lionpaw, and Leafpool and Crowfeather are parents to Hollypaw. If we look at the kits appearances and the four warrior’s extended family, parents, personality, and history, it also adds to the theory.

The Kits:

Jaypaw: A mottled gray tom with blue eyes and a bad temper.

Hollypaw: A black she-cat with green eyes and lots of energy.

Lionpaw: A golden tabby-tom with green eyes, whom is very loyal to the clan, but can be tricked into things he believes don’t hurt.

The Warriors:

Crowfeather: A dark gray tom with amber eyes and a bad temper.

Ashfur: A gray tom with darker flecks and blue eyes, holds grudges and is not exactly cheery.

Squirrelflight: A dark ginger she-cat with green eyes and lots of energy.

Brambleclaw: A brown tabby tom with amber eyes and long claws. He is loyal to the clan, but can be tricked into doing things he believes are just fine.

Leafpool: A light brown tabby she-cat with green eyes and a usually cheery personality.

Relations and Parents:

Leafpool and Squirrelflight:

Parents; Firestar and Sandstorm

Grandparents: Unknown

Brambleclaw:

Parents: Tigerstar and Goldenflower

Siblings: Tawnypelt, Mothwing (half), Hawkfrost (half)\

Grandparents: Unknown

Ashfur:

Parents: Brindleface and ?

Siblings: Ferncloud

Grandparents: Unknown

Crowfeather:

Parents: Ashfoot and ?

Siblings: (Possibly) Eaglekit [Whom was featured in Cats of The Clans]

Now, we begin to address the play “We Need To Talk”.

In this play, Leafpool tries to tell Crowfeather something, mostly speculated that she was pregnant. But fans have not been told for sure which kit she was pregnant with, or even if it was just an apology. This may be uncovered in further books, as hinted in the Author Chats on Wands and Worlds.

Then there is the “Journey” which Squirrelflight and Leafpool went on when Squirrelflight gave birth. It is quite possible that the “connection” Squirrelflight and Leafpool had was related to going out in the snow, especially since it is assumed that Leafpool was pregnant also. (To quote The New Prophecy roughly, “Every cat was very well fed. Even small Leafpool was pudgy.”)

But it was the dead of winter when they supposedly made the journey, how would they survive well? Someone would have to come out and catch prey for them, make a nest, etc, and if someone has just had kits, it would be reasonably hard.

Leafpool was the one who knew medicine, and –probably- had just one kit, why not her supporting herself and Squirrelflight? It would make sense, since Squirrelflight would be capable of taking care of the kits, even if she didn’t have milk, Leafpool could nurse them when she wasn’t hunting, making a nest, etc. But then it brings up the subject; Why is Leafpool so motherly to Jaypaw? Well, it is quite probable that she did something by accident to Jaypaw, or she just felt bad for his blindness. As noted, she brings them honeycomb and feathers from the moors for the kits, would that not show a larger amount of affection towards these three, since it is not noted in the books that she brings treats and such for the other kits born?

Sorry if it gets mucked up. Dx

Oh, cool! I really like that. Does anybody have the lines for the play After Sunset: We Need to Talk? BECAUSE .... I can't download it. Or anything. And I can't get the lines.

Also :: cats don't smile

And :: Sandstorm's father is - or was - Redtail

P.S. Which warrior's forum do you go on? Can you give me the link?

Sandstorm's father was Redtail? O.O
According to the family trees. >< I'm against those, they got them soo messed up. They are not true, Vicky herself said that.

Mimitchihanatchilover, cats do smile. I've lived my entire life around cats, I should know.

I'll give you the link, but PM me for it...

Tortie males are most of the time infertile, too.

Boring a little(i think mainly cuz of all these names...). Stopped. Told my friend(who is on second series, obsessed, and finishe manga?) that I'm not really interested. Stuff happened... Started again. Finished first book. Now on second.

Read them all. Own them all. Love them all.

I know every cat by name, all the territories by heart, and I've read the mangas/comic books, the field guide, and the super edirion too! I own those too. =]

I'm getting the 3rd comic book and Outcast very soon!

My fave charrie is Stormfur. <33

I finished the 3rd book on 1st series. My friend is ahead of me, and she said that SandStorm mates FireHeart(or Star?). How come, if she's so fond of him, she pestered him(in a bad way) for a while. Is it becoause he saved her from falling into the gorge when they were fighting RiverClan? The battle when FireHeart comes with WindClan and decides to trespass RiverClan.

P.S. Don't crtiticize me, but one my favs is currently Tigerclaw.

It's physically impossible for cats to smile. They're muscles aren't the same as ours. It may look like it, but they really aren't.

I'm really getting sick of Warriors. Erin needs to stop the series. Seriously, the first six books were wonderful. It should have ended there.

But NOOOO. She had to make The New Prophecy. Okay, not too bad, a bit annoying, but...

The Power Of Three. This is where I start getting annoyed. Honestly, they should start a new series or something. It's just getting tired out.

I kind of agree with you, Zoria. It was great in the first 6 books, where it was just Rusty/Firepaw/heart/star as the main character. Then in New Prophecy, they HAD to keep switching between Leafpool and Squrrielflight. That was annoying, alright.... If you wanted to hear Leafpool's story, you get to the exciting part.... And what do you see?: Squrrielflight felt sad, she wanted Brambleclaw.) That was soooo annoying.

And it's even MORE annoying now with 3 main characters in Power of Three.
