The series is quickly decreasing in popularity, especially after the failure of the 4U/4U+, selling less than 1/3 of what was expected. This is also the reason 2/3 TamaDepa stores in Japan are closing (Tokyo Station and Harajuku) and the anime was ended.

I guess that's a fair reason to think that, but I shall hope tamagotchis will live on!

where are the statistics on sales for this? where did it say the stores are closing? I went to both recently and they didn't seem like they were doing too bad I also went to toy stores around tokyo and osaka and they were still selling the 4u/4u+ compared to bandai's moneymaker Aikatsu which at the time I couldn't find one Aikatsu related product other than the machines themselves.

sometimes when the brand is dying down a little it is a sign they will relaunch the brand completely I feel like the current look for tamagotchi has run it's course and it's about time for an image change and it would make sense for tamagotchi to now for it's 20th to go the way of Aikatsu stars and reboot the brand.

tamagotchi has also earned it's name as a Japanese mascot character anyway and there are plenty of mascot characters with average sales that their stores and brand has yet to die out i'd give it next year to see tamagotchi change and become brand new I don't think bandai JP is gonna give up on one of their most successful franchises so easily.

Here's some more food for thought although it is second-hand information, so don't take it as the absolute truth. It also applies to American businesses in particular, but when a brand or IP is on the chopping block, apparently they look at the future projections of sales and not the past performance to determine whether or not it gets cut. In that case, there probably wouldn't even be trademarks for Tamagotchi M!X if Bandai were planning to discontinue it. I agree at this point that we have no reason to think the Tamagotchi brand is doomed.

 
Yukitchi357 on instagram photographed a magazine in Japan and it showed what the Tamagotchi MIX will look like, as a new character called Nijifuwatchi.

A few raisable characters are confirmed...

Also, a new place called Rainbow Hills was added to Tamagotchi Channel. It's likely the Tamagotchi will be set in this new place.

The new character design is incredible. I hope they'll make some desings based in the nineties for other new characters.

oh ok so by the looks of this article it's hinting at once two tamas are married a special transformation will occur! they will announce details on it next month but by the name I'm guessing they'll be making fusion characters it also looks kinda like they may either have specific matches or they're just giving examples in the article as each character featured gives hints on who they want to be with ( I love how they just went ahead and shipped mametchi and lovelitchi!! haha #OTP)

Also anyone else notice there is an IR connector up top???? I actually personally hope not becuase man that would be going a tad bit back in time... I'd rather them switch to QR codes I mean that is the next connection trend haha

I'm personally excited as girly as it is it's god dang cute as heck would not even care to get it in pink. let's just pray they get download connection right this time...

edit by the way they're promoting tamagotchi planet I wouldn't be surprised if they make every place available in the toy.

The text with the rainbow background says "kekkon" which means marriage, and if it's that big and draws that much attention on the page, it must be very important.

P.S. I'm in LOVE with the new design!!!

 
That looks great! I guess the rainbow-colored screen on the Tamagotchi device means it'll be in color Would love to see it come to America. I'd like a color tamagotchi that I can read. lol Wishful thinking, I know.

:0!!! oh my gosh what if the "mix" in the name means a sort of "mix" of the two characters, kinda like a sort of fusion?

I'm really excited for this release now~ The design looks super cute, I'll definitely be buying one once it's released~

 
I'm loving this aesthetic look. Nijifuwa ("fluffy rainbow") is such a cutie! That shell is gorgeous too. Looks like it will have a matte texture if the picture is any indication of the final product. I wonder if you'll be able to change out the faceplate again?

The big text on the page says something like "On the upcoming tamagotchi, marriage is super fun!" Everyone else has pretty much provided the translations for the other text that's large enough for me to read. The characters' dialogue bubbles are so tiny. I would like to see a larger scan of this page.

I wonder if the "mix" part refers to social mixing/dating? I'm kind of hoping that means once your character gets married they don't automatically have a child and then leave.

ETA: Oh yeah, I finally want to see Mimitchi added again! :mimitchi:

Looks pretty interesting. Wonder if Bandai will release any more info about it before release.
