You can't delete items on the V5 because the V5 is able to hold ALL of the items that are available for the toy. Also they will always appear in a certain order on the list so you won't be able to bump any to the front of the list, so you can only have one of every item.

That also happened to me once with my two V4's. I just hit reset and download and it started working again. I'm not sure why it didn't work, neither of the batteries were low, maybe you could try that.

Have you paused your tama at all? If so then it will take longer for the parent to leave, make sure to leave it unpaused at all times. To change your clock go to the clock screen and press A, then it should go to the regular am/pm time.

Your battery must be low. The "Wait" appears when you reset and it will also beep, which could probably happen if your battery is low also. I would suggest getting a new battery.

Sometimes batteries are just faulty. It probably wasn't anything you did that drained them, but I don't know what kind of batteries you bought, so I suggest never buying cheap ones because they never last as long as the more expensive kind. But if you did buy good batteries than like I said it...
