You are approaching this all wrong. He wants a reaction fom you. With his violent actions, he wants to see you hurt, or upset. Do not provide any reaction whatsoever. He yells, Ignore it, or talk in a calm reasonable manner. He kicks or punches, do nothing. He WILL eventually see there is nothing worth fighting for.
