So, What's The Worst Book You Ever Read?
Posted 17 October 2008 - 06:17 PM ( #1 )
Please give reasons. Not just--
"OMG, I HATE WARRIURZ BCUZ IT SUCKS"
"LOLOL I RLLY H8 SHAKESPHERE"
"BOBBY MC BOB IS THE WORST WRITERZ EVAR"
or:
"OMG, TWILIGHT IS SOOO HORIBLEZ, IT HURTS11ONESHIFTONE."
For me, sadly enough, I have to say Warriors... by Erin Hunter. I know, I dislike Twilight, but at least Meyer knows when to stop, and her writing actually has some description, and her characters are likeable... except Edward. Even Bella is half-decent. And I know, I used to run about the roleplay boards posting homages to Erin Hunter and my characters Spottedstone and Stormcloud. -rolls eyes-
I loved, absolutely adored the first six books. It was a lovely balance of love, action, and hilarity. Even with a Romeo and Juliet twist... Silverstream and Graystripe. There was no mention of another series, except for the end of 'The Darkest Hour', I think.
Even when I re-read the first book, I just get absorbed all over again.
But... then The New Prophecy came out. Great, okay.
Manga? Err...
Field guides.
Power of three.
Seekers.
Erin Hunter is leeching this series for all it's worth. And people are buying it. She seriously should have stopped after the sixth book. It had a totally unexpected ending-- I have thought that Tigerstar and Firestar would have an epic fight to the death. But Scourge came in, and that threw me off. Her writing has just gotten worse. It's getting old. She's re-using the same plot devices...
Humph.

I only read the preview, actually, but quite, quite awful.
Wait..I think it's called Antigua. Anyways, it's like 3rd grade "WAT I DID FER SUMMER MANZ!" type writing in third person. xD Nuff said.

By Sharon Creech.
The Wole Writing was like this:
I'm Running.
In Barefeet.
My heart is beating.
I am running.

Gawsh, it was so pointless. Kino finds Pearl, Kino is obsessed, trackers want Kino's pearl, people die, Kino kills child. Theme? Something along the lines of things that symbolize hope can be destructive and blah blah blah.
I hated it.
And I greatly disliked Twilight. Bella is just an awful character. No aspirations, no hobbies, no anything. And the vampires like....sparkle. :|
I hate the sparkling most.

I could make a list of books that I find to be very awful, but I'd rather not at the moment. Later on if I'm in the mood then there's a possibility.

Oh my gosh, I agree 100%!... Bella is definitely the most boring character I've ever seen. And I don't really like Twilight in general (yet almost all of my friends are obsessed with it. Ugh...).Bella is just an awful character. No aspirations, no hobbies, no anything.
And I hate that so many books have a girl main character that's 11 or so and is all like "IM SO COOL CUZ MAI DADDY TAUGHT ME 2 SWORD FIGHT LOLOLOLOL IM GONA RESCUE SOME GROWN UPZ AND MAGICALLY BEAT THE 30+ YR OLD BAD DUDE LOLOLOL WITH HAND 2 HAND COMBATZZZ"
I mean, it's ok the first few times but COME. ON.
Why does it have to be THAT easy to beat the villain!? It just makes books boring and unrealistic. In a bad way.
and Dictionary... I kind of agree with you about Warriors. The first and second series's were really good. But then it went way over the top and started repeating basically the same plot. I stopped reading it after the first Power of Three book because it became boring. Sad, really.

When Zac was little, ice cream was his favorite dessert! Maybe that's why he's so sweet!
I don't know if it was supposed to be funny, or if it was supposed to make fangirls' hearts stop, but it was downright annoying.

Oh, The Wave? I have to read that for school this year. The book "The wave" it was so boring and had a bad ending along with "nothing but the truth" The wave was about a replay type thing of the holocaust it's like they were making fun of it when it was a serious issue. Nothing but the truth is about this boy humming the National Anthem and expressing his feelings and his teacher sent him out and suspended him for class disruption really boring and had a terrible ending and didn't answer the important things only the minor things. If that made sense anyway lol.

Speaking of the wave, I watched the movie in my g+t class...the acting was horrible. xDThe book "The wave" it was so boring and had a bad ending along with "nothing but the truth" The wave was about a replay type thing of the holocaust it's like they were making fun of it when it was a serious issue. If that made sense anyway lol.
But parts of it were actually funny though.
Anyways, back on topic. Worst book I ever read?
I've read too many books, I can't tell.

I'll agree with you on that. I was in love with Warriors during the first twelve books, but then they went a little to far. Plus, it's a sad excuse for Manga.Just wondering.
Please give reasons. Not just--

"LOLOL I RLLY H8 SHAKESPHERE"
"BOBBY MC BOB IS THE WORST WRITERZ EVAR"

But what's new? People get hungry for moola and spoil something that was once sweet.
Anyway, knowing me...I have to say Twilight. No explanation. It just makes me ill.

Twilight Series.
Because, the character development, the plot, and the general ;everything goes our way in the end' really bugged me.
For the love of god, I could hardly stand to tread the book- I did, because I needed to have a good arguement against all the fans who are like "OMG THIS BOOK SO HAWT I LOVE JACOB/EDWARD/EMMETT/JASPER/I WANNA BE LIEK BELLA OMG." And dont have any reason to tell my why the book is god other than the characters are hot.
Bella, right off the bat, everyone likes her and for no reason.
The vampires are not even vampires, for gods sake- okay, so come of the things in vampires are steriotyped, but come on! They dont even have fangs, she cant bring herself to make them have any faults at all >.>
She even said herself that Bella is what she wanted to be, the person she always wanted to be- She was writing down her lifes wishes, in the form of a fairey tale.

Most retarded book I have ever read. The girl is a total airhead, and cares about nothing but getting a boyfriend.

But I <3 Twilight!
